From the ancient Tianguis to a Mexican Market on Wheels

Long before supermarkets, shopping malls or online stores existed, Mexico already had a powerful tradition of bringing people together through markets.

​

In the great tianguis of the Mexica world, especially the famous market of Tlatelolco, merchants arrived from across Mesoamerica carrying food, spices, cacao, textiles, crafts and countless other treasures.

​

The market "Tianguis" was much more than a place to buy and sell. It was a place to meet, negotiate, discover, compare, taste, learn and exchange stories.

​

That spirit is still alive today.

With TacoBoy on the Road, we bring our own small version of the Mexican tianguis to communities, festivals, cultural gatherings and events throughout Denmark.

​

Our travelling market brings authentic tortillas, tortilla chips, dried chillies, guacamole, Mexican salsas, sodas, beers and other Mexican favourites — together with a small Deli & Tasting Area, where curiosity is always welcome.

​

🥃 And if you are lucky… perhaps even a little tequila or mezcal.

 

Because for us, a market is not only about selling.

It is about people meeting people.

And learning about another culture through food.

¡Viva México!

Join us for one of the biggest Mexican celebrations of the year as Copenhagen celebrates El Grito, commemorating the historic call that marked the beginning of Mexico's struggle for independence.

Together with the Mexican community, restaurants, artists and friends of Mexico, TacoBoy.Shop will bring our travelling Mexican market to Blågårds Plads.

​

The programme includes Mexican street food, traditional folkloric dancing, mariachi, cumbia, piñatas, games, artisans and plenty of Mexican flavours.

​

The official Grito will be led by H.E. Ambassador Norma Pensado, with the participation of Honorary Consul of Mexico Anders Brix as part of this special celebration.
